Runners/walkers and their families at the Long Beach 5k-10k Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. Long Beach, CA. USA. 26/11/2009.
The 7th annual Long Beach 5k-10k turkey trot held on November 26th had more than 5,250 participants running and walking through the scenic streets and sidewalks of Belmont Shore. Local residents and families gathered in support of the runners/walkers/strollers as they made their way through the 5-10k course. Many participants were families of 6 or less that were there just to feel good before they went home and dive into their holiday feastivities. Justin Rudd, race director/local resident fitness expert, and his non-profit organization CAT (Community Action Team) created this fun-for-all event to generate support for the local community through developed programs which benefit children, animals and the environment. Other activities during the event were a 1/2 mile run for the kids, chicken chucking (also for kids), and random pie giveaways to 400 runners.
