Chinese economist Fan Gang takes part in a forum discussion on 3 July 2009 at the Global Think Tank Summit in Beijing organised by the China International Centre for Economic Exchanges (CCIEE). Dr Fan is one of China's most influential economists and one of China's leading reform advocates. Based in Beijing, he is the Director of the National Economic Research Institute (NERI) and Chairman of the China Reform Foundation, China's first economic think-tank. Trained at the Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS) and Harvard University, he is also a professor at several top universities in China. Dr Fan Gang is an adviser to China's central government and regional governments and is on the Monetary Policy Committee of the country's central bank, the People's Bank of China and an adviser to the State Administration of Foreign Exchange and several Chinese ministries.
