Mizo youth taking part at “Cheraw”- the traditional mass bamboo dance of Mizoram on the occasion of registering for the first time to the Guinness World Records in Aizawl, Mizoram, India. 12/03/2010. Mizo youth taking part at “Cheraw”- the traditional mass bamboo dance of Mizoram on the occasion of registering it for the first time to Guinness World Records in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram in India on Friday, 12 March 2010. According to Lucia Sinigagliesi, Adjucations manager from Guinness World Records, the Bamboo dance Cheraw, the traditional bamboo dance of Mizoram has made an entry to the Guinness World Records with Ten Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty Six (10736) number of participants at a the mass bamboo dance at the Football ground and around the city road together at the same time to set the record. Mizoram is the far eastern state of India bordering Myanmar and Bangladesh. The Guinness World Record is followed by the next day of Chapchar Kut Festival of Mizoram this year, the most colourful festival of the Mizos. Also seen in the picture, P C Zoram Sangliana, Art & Culture minister of Mizoram, along with the jubilant participants after receiving the Guinness Certificate.

Mizo youth taking part at “Cheraw Kanpui”- the traditional mass bamboo dance of Mizoram on the occasion of “Chapchar Kut Festival”, the annual harvest festival of Mizoram in Aizwal, India. 11/03/2010. Mizoram is the far eastern state of India bordering Myanmar and Bangladesh. The festival is the most colourful festival of the Mizos. Apart from the annual harvest festival this time, the bamboo dance and other dance and music practice is happening every where in Aizwal city as Mizoram is trying for the first time set its entry to The Guinness Book of World Records with largest number of people dancing together on bamboo. This will be the first of its kind to enter to Guinness Book of World Records on 12th March 2010. Chapchar Kut 2010 Festival is celebrated with mass participation form all parts the state coming down to the city to dance with musical beats and on bamboo sticks and song and drama.
