“Gone, but not forgotten, never shall thy memory fade. Oh! Martyrs, we salute you” - INDIAN ARMY
140 peasants’ martyrs sacrificed their lives in the hands of British Rulers at the historic Patharughat Rann (Revolt/uprising against the British) on 28th January 1894.
Major General S S Jog, GOC Red Horns Division, along with other civil and security agency officials paying homage to the martyrs of Patharughat Rann (a massive peasants’ uprising) against British Rulers on 28th January 1894 in undivided India, now in Darrang district of Assam, during “Army Salute to Patharughat Martyrs” , Assam, India 29/01.2010.
Freedom fighters, school students along with local villagers and farmers still observe the day in attending the memorial function of “Red Horns" Army Salute to the Patharughat Martyrs"- a homage to the martyrs of Patharughat Rann.
