The Diwali festival is known as the festival of lights in the Hindu religion and is celebrated throughout the sub continent in areas of Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism, and it is also an official holiday in India. The Yokohama celebrations ran from October 17th to October 18th and featured many stalls selling Indian foods and crafts as well as displays of traditional dancing and culture in an attempt to rise the profile and increase cross-cultural communication and friendship with Japan`s small Indian immigrant population.
